Computer Revival

Well, my new and improved computer is finally back up and running. Woohoo! Just a few more adjustments to make and then I should be back to normal. So, I will try my best to start posting pics again once I upload/edit them sometime later this week...hopefully! Oh, I had a couple of questions about the stats of my new computer so here they are:
  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 dual core processor @ 2.7ghz
  • Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 motherboard
  • Corsair 2GB DD2 1066 (PC 8500) memory
  • EVGA GeForce 9600 GSO 512MB PCIe 2.0 x16 video card
  • I am keeping my current hard drive: 250gb sata2 hdd plus an older 80gb and 20gb
  • Also, I am continuing to run Windows XP and Office XP but soon to be Office 2007

Dead Computer

Dear Blog Readers (if there are any??), I will continue posting photos again someday soon, I hope. Before heading out of town last week, my computer met an untimely death. My computer is fairly old and for quite some time has needed random parts exchanged to keep it running. This time, it refused to except new parts and was eventually diagnosed as a dead motherboard. So, I am getting a new computer! It should arrive by the weekend then I'll be able to stop using whatever random computer I can find to do what I want to do online. There is a lesson to be learnt from this, back up your photos (or files in general)!!! I have had my photos from the last several years sitting in one folder on my desktop for a couple of months now. I just hadn't taken the time to back them up and then my computer died! Of course, I was alarmed and thought they might possibly be gone forever!! This would not have been the first time since we lost all of our honeymoon pictures this way. =( But, thankfully, my photos are alive and well, just waiting for a computer for them to be placed in so I can access them again. Whew!)

Where I've Been & Where I'm Going

There have not been any posts over the weekend and I'm not sure if there will be any before next week. It will depend on availability to internet access and free time. But, exciting things have been happening and are about to happen! This past weekend, I was in Greensboro, NC at a sales conference for work. My department hosted the event to honor all our agents that do well for the company. I took a couple of pictures, not really of the event but random things like the ice water in my glass. I haven't had a chance to upload them since I got back late last night. Tonight, after work, Kendall and I will be in Florida for the rest of the week! We have exciting plans to see my family/relatives and do some fun activities. My camera will be along for the ride so I plan to document our adventures and share when we return.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

If I had to choose one thing I was best at cooking, it would be baking chocolate chip cookies. They are one of the first things I learned to cook because my Mom didn't make many desserts and my Dad loved chocolate chip cookies. This is a skill my husband now enjoys greatly. Can't beat the ease of making the two most important men in your life happy with cookies!

Wet Weather Hans

Hans was a little more active than Heidi so his bandana didn't do a whole lot and he lost a bootie. But, it was definitely better than nothing especially the other 3 paws that were significantly more dry. Here, he's done with the wetness and wants back inside.

Grandma Heidi

Sunday, before all the snow came, there was lots of rain. Our dogs do not like going out in the rain to do their business nor do we like bringing them back in afterwards because they're wet and dirty. So, here is what we came up with and it actually worked pretty well. Dog sweater + Bandana + Plastic Grocery Bags + Rubberbands = Grandma Heidi!

More Wintry White Stuff

We had another snowstorm Sunday night and this was our backyard scene on Monday morning before we left for work.

New Camera

Kendall gave me my birthday present early! What an exciting gift to get too! I think he was as excited about it as I was, maybe more. The camera is a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS. I don't know what that all means but it's got a 10X zoom, 9 Megapixels, and has cool stuff like stabilizing. At first, I was wondering why I got my birthday gift so early but now it makes sense. We plan to be in Florida for my birthday so Kendall wanted me to be able to use it while I was there. Also, instead of giving it to me just before we left he wanted me to get used to it beforehand. So, you may be in luck and I will probably have photos to keep my blog updated while I adapt to my new toy. Yay!

Old Camera

This is a picture of my poor old camera that I've taken most pictures on this blog with. It takes pretty good pictures still but is having other difficulties like the lens cover not opening or staying open all the way. The curvy line at the bottom of the lens is part of what doesn't always stay out of the picture. Most times I can just push it out of the way if I remember. The camera is a Nikon CoolPix 3200 that I got in 2004, has travelled MANY places, and held up very well considering what it has been through.
